A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Blog

I realized today that I've not posted an entry in some time but I wanted to set the record straight - I've been busy cooking but clearly have not been writing. So I looked through the photos I've taken and decided there are some nice pictures but none of the dishes were fantastic enough that I felt compelled to write. That said, I've been feeling guilty and wanted to show you what I've been up to (and tell you why you didn't see the recipe).

Chicken with Olives and Tomatoes

While this dish was actually delicious, it didn't photograph well. In a hurry, I crowded the chicken in the pan and the skin didn't brown well. So it looked a bit...blah. This was made with white wine, thyme and rosemary, little cherry tomatoes, oil cured olives (not Kalamata), and button mushrooms. I also used garlic and oil and it was very good. I served it over linguine and everyone was happy - I just didn't think it was worthy of an entry.

Bow-Ties with Sweet Onion Sauce

Why didn't you see this recipe? I was mad at the pasta.

Seriously, I purchased Ronzoni because it was on sale and normally I buy Barilla. It was a disappointment and I was annoyed. You get what you pay for! The sauce was good but not great - I need to work on perfecting it. I'll get back to you.

Five Alarm Chili

Why didn't you see this one? It was way too "normal." You don't log on to my blog (or any other) to find recipes of dishes you already know how to make, do you?

Asian-Style Pork Loin

Hmmm...this is easy - it was not cooked properly so I could not give you a recipe! I was so annoyed at myself for rushing this perfectly good, perfectly right recipe, that I figured if you didn't see it then the mistake didn't happen. The flavor was right but I messed up cooking time, temp., and method. Again, I'll be back to you with something in the future.

So you see? I've been busy...I've just held back on what to share. But given I have had a light blog, I thought I'd share them now.

Oh! If you would like any of these recipes, let me know.

I've had a similar experience with American pasta -- I find Barilla dependable but for really special meals prefer some of the artisan brands.
