New Year's Day: Menu

I've never been a big fan of New Year's Eve and fortunately for me, neither has my husband. We just don't seem to get all the hype. However, I'll admit that the first day of January is always exciting to us both - it seems fresh, clean and new. I like that - always grateful for a new beginning. So we welcome the new year with friends and family and we've tried to do this each year. It's been a lot of fun - everyone seems relaxed, somehow. No pressure, no gifts, just a toast to the new year ahead, some good company and lots of food.

I have found that the trick to entertaining on this day is to make very few items and make them in advance, if possible. The key is to relax and enjoy your guests. Crazy in the kitchen is soo last year!
